By night, however, he transforms into a fervent artist, his studio apartment pulsating with the explosive beats of gangster rap and punk rock—sounds that starkly contrast his daytime persona. His pseudonym, inspired by a messaging app from his youth, reflects his preference for interacting behind digital avatars. Shy and reserved, BuddyBuddy finds solace at home or in the digital world, comfortably immersing himself in his artwork or moderating the communities he cherishes. An avid collector of NFTs and inspired by graffiti legends like Basquiat, Lee Quinones, and Keith Haring, he is more active on Discord and other online platforms than in real life, deeply engaging with the digital art community. After reaching out to Orangehare, this exhibition marks the second time he’s shown his own canvas work in digital form, capturing the essence of those fleeting, liberating hours when the clock is all punched out.
