On winter solstice, the day is the shortest and night the longest. At this point, the day begins to lengthen and darkness recede. This occasion has been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times. Here in the north we feel the effects of the dark season strongly, so return of light is a cause for celebration. While the old traditions have been merged into Christmas and New Year´s Eve, this is a great time and subject for some quiet personal contemplation. For me drawing is the natural way to do it
