With her typical intricate depictions of human figures, Sarah Jil Niklas is on a constant quest for the essence and beauty of interpersonal relationships and for desires deeply rooted within us.
The artist is fascinated by touch, movement, and communication and tries to capture fleeting moments and emotions of human connections. Her paintings are a fusion and manifestation of being human, art, and dance - with an aura that lets the viewer feel that we are more than what we see and can imagine.
The paintings are done with acrylic/oil on canvas. The unique pieces are hand-painted as abstractly as possible without a brush, to create a fusion and imbue the works with the greatest possible dynamism, movement, and aura.
In preparation for her paintings, the artist organizes photo shoots with professional dancer friends. In accordance with her philosophy, she is part of the picture as a model and is herself part of the image.
