Isis was born to a tribe of gypsies who roamed the countryside of medieval France. As a child, she was taught the ways of her people: how to read the stars, how to find water in the desert, and how to charm and beguile those they met on their travels. When she was sixteen, her parents were killed by a band of thieves who raided their camp. Isis was left alone in the world. She vowed to get revenge on those who had murdered her family. She used her skills of persuasion and deception to track down the thieves. When she found them, she killed them all single-handedly. After that, she became known as the Gypsy Warrior. She began to roam the country, standing up for the oppressed and taking on anyone who dared to cross her. Isis became a legend in her own time. The tales of her great deeds – and her even greater beauty – were told around campfires for years to come. She was a hero for those who had none, and a symbol of hope in dark times.
