Sometimes there are still secrets. When I started this series 2 years ago I didn't have a fleshed out plan of any kind. It was a spur of the moment idea that I ran with, in part because I was curious where it would lead next. I intentionally didn't plan ahead, I wanted each months pick to be as much a surprise to me as it was to everyone else. Since then it's gone many directions and served many purposes. Even now looking back at the 25 photos which have become the SBXX series, it would be difficult to nail down a constant theme or focus, other than each photo speaks a little bit about where I was and what I was thinking or feeling at that particular moment. There's certainly been recurring themes and evolution along the way, and that's part of why I felt this photo was a good way to end the series. this is a secret tree in Vancouver, it's location carefully guarded. Countless branches going in endless directions, unseen by most, embraced by few. It's metaphors stacked on metaphors, and best left with some mystery. Along with this this final edition I'm announcing a book collecting the whole series into a single volume, available now and shipping next year.
