Elana’s bobsled career started when her parents saw bobsled on TV and suggested she give it a try. Less than three years later she became an Olympic bronze Medalist as a brakeman in 2010 in Vancouver.
Post Vancouver, Elana transitioned to the role of driver. She was a regular on medals’ podiums around the world, and eventually drove herself back to the Olympic podium in 2014 for silver in Sochi, Russia.
In 2015, Elana made history, becoming the first woman to earn a spot on the US National Team competing with the men, as a 4-man bobsled pilot, and became the first woman to win a medal in international competition in a men’s event.
In 2018, at the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, Elana earned a hard-fought silver, missing out on gold by just .07 seconds. After earning a silver and bronze at Beijing 2022, she is the most decorated athlete of color in Olympic Winter Games history.
