“We weren’t expecting them. To be honest, I don’t think anybody was. No sirens. No breaking news. No bleeps on any radars. But there they were, 13 of them, in all of their lanky, 9-feet-tall, disgustingly moist glory. One of them was the leader, or at least it was a commander of some sort. The leader looked different than the others. It was the only one with eyes. I mean, I think they were eyes, even though they looked as though someone had fused them to the outside of its oblong head like some cheap disguise. All of us stood there, speechless, scared, staring at these creatures and aimlessly motioning to each other with confused body language. We weren’t organized. But they were. A series of wet clicks and high-frequency sounds emanated from the commander. My eardrums felt like they got punched. But I had to ignore the feeling of nausea, because shortly after those extraterrestrial clicks echoed throughout the stadium, they charged. So we had to do what we do best. We grabbed our bats, we dug our cleats into the soil, and literally hit them out of the park.” This collectible card is the second "Companion Card" in an ongoing series created by Alex Pardee, expanding upon the alternate baseball-universe he created with his "Project 70" physical Baseball Cards. Created using procreate and photoshop with traditional physical watercolors and textures composited. 2021.
