描述
This piece is inspired by calaveras which are traditionally used in the Mexican celebrations for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Here the human skull is adorned with a stylized representation of the coronavirus. Restaurant closures due to COVID-19 will disproportionately affect the Latino community in California. However, lost wages and lost jobs are the tip of the iceberg. Many in our communities are at risk. This piece's title is a double entendre meant to invoke the traditional celebration and act as a dark reminder of the impact the coronavirus is having on the most vulnerable, especially undocumented seniors. At the time of tokenization, there is no known vaccine for COVID-19.
