This artwork is based on a naval town in Cape Town where I lived for a short while when I was a teenager. It was such a beautiful and natural space and still feels like home to me. It is also one of the homes of the African Penguin (also known as the Jackass Penguin because they make braying noises like donkeys). I used to walk on the beach at night with my family and we would watch the fish darting throught the water right by our feet. Simon's Town is a magical place and will always be very close to my heart. This artwork was created for the Future Art exhibition (2021) which takes place in Sydney.
