Nelson Mandela’s Warrant of Arrest for treason is arguably the most valuable NFT in existence. This NFT has been minted in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the warrant of arrest having been issued in 1961. There are few historical documents that claim the status of this NFT, it being the first ever of Nelson Mandela's warrant of arrest. The original document is held in the archives of Liliesleaf Museum in South Africa (www.liliesleaf.co.za), it having been purchased and later donated to Liliesleaf by ABSA bank (https://www.iol.co.za/news/politics/old-warrant-for-madibas-arrest-resurfaces-221884). The NFT owner is granted exclusive access to inspect the original asset at Liliesleaf. This is the first NFT of the warrant of arrest, it having been expertly scanned and modelled by the team at www.virtualnationbuilders.com (VNB), VNB having been granted exclusive access to the Liliesleaf archives for this purpose in September 2021. The NFT is not only unique due to its underlying asset, but it is also the first official heritage NFT ever created in South Africa. There can never be another. The net sale proceeds will be used towards the resurrection and resuscitation of the Liliesleaf Farm Museum. The audit report also confirms the assignment of all Intellectual Property relating to the NFT and associated videos and other material, to the NFT owner.
