描述
Eclipse mania is a series of 1/10 made from real photographs of eclipses transformed into art, all from original photography by Joyce Harman, noted night sky and eclipse photographer.
Rarely does one photographer have the skill and opportunity to capture all of the eclipses with perfect clear skies for photography. I drove many miles and camped in unusual places to find the perfect clear skies.
My passion is to create art from the wonderful colors and shapes of the eclipses and share it with the world. I will add to the collection and will add art including the 2024 eclipse. However, the collection is limited and will be kept rare and collectable.
All images are constructed from actual photographs from all 3 types of eclipses, full solar (2017), full lunar (2019) and full annular solar (2023), all taken in the United States. All art is made entirely from segments of all 3 types of eclipses. The segments chosen are selected for their artistic shapes to build the final image.
Eclipses occur in various places around the earth, but rarely does one country have the opportunity to have all types of eclipses occur in a relatively short period of time. The previous full solar eclipses to occur in most of the USA were in 1970 and 1979. There is one in 2024, then next one in the USA will be 2044.
Not only is the experience of a full solar eclipse dramatic and unique, being able to meld the shapes and colors is inspirational.
Full Solar Eclipse: A Solar eclipse occurs during a new moon when the moon moves between earth and the sun and completely blocks the light if the sun during the day. The sky becomes dark, birds go to sleep and the night insects come out.
Full Lunar Eclipse: Occurs when the full moon is completely blocked from the sun’s rays by the earth's shadow. The moon becomes red orange (called a blood moon) - the tint is from Earth’s atmosphere with different types of dust particles reflecting color.
Annular Solar Eclipse: Is like a full solar eclipse but the moon is farther from the earth and its shadow is not large enough to fully cover the sun, so you see a ring of the sun around the moon.
Enjoy the collection.
