12/12/20 – Andagua, Arequipa – 4180 M.A.S.L
Travelling by plane from Lima to Arequipa, then taking a 10-hour bus to Andagua (previously unknown for me), arriving at 4am with freezing temperatures and realizing my 2 bags were sent in a different bus, struggling to find a hostel because they were all full, running out of phone battery/ with no signal and then meeting an extraordinary friend named Pablo who luckily, had a hotel.
This was my first day on this expedition to Andagua, I had the luck to meet a local guide who I made friends with and he introduced me to his family, the place and the culture. The original culture of Andagua, the Aruni were known star gazers and I had the privilege to witness the meteor shower from a sacred viewpoint with archeological ruins.
As for the meteor shower, it peaked around 1:00 am and I got to see at least 200 meteors during the show, one of them is here, others are in my mind. Every step I took for the last 4 years got me there and I felt happy.
