Created specifically for Art of Choice, ”Andromeda (The Chained Woman): Arrangement in Hex #ba1722, Hex #ffffff, and Hex #1973ff” exists only in digital form and is part of my ongoing series Some Women which addresses the systemic objectification of women in our culture by breaking this cycle through creating new hybrid women, composed of appropriated female imagery, in order to reclaim their roles as subjects, not objects.
Andromeda alludes to a woman trapped, “banded” or “chained,” by the colors and symbols of the American flag. She symbolizes every woman in the United States currently being held hostage by our judges and lawmakers who are defining the human rights of women in our country.
