Captain Samuel Grey, also known as "Grey Sam", is one of the few FLUFs that remained awake during the great hibernation. Although he doesn't often speak of his activities during this time, he was an early stage investor, contributor and advocate for the Grey Financial Collective (GFC) founded in 2008. Emerging as a DAO (decentralised autonomous organisation), the GFC acted as a catalyst for the advancement of distributed ledger technology, a decentralised alternative to the traditional financial system designed to benefit the fluffle and the whole of mankind.
Grey Sam is also a co-founder of the annual Spore Festival, a traveling electronic dance music festival. Each year, thousands of FLUFs gather for this EDM party where the ground is said to be literally shaking from all of the good vibes. A percentage of the profits from this festival are donated to the (EFF) Electronic FLUF Foundation, an organisation that defends FLUF's rights in the Metaverse.
His Captain status is a nod to his involvement with the secret society known as the Rabbit Island Pirates (RIP). As all members of RIP are sworn to secrecy, little is known publicly about the Rabbit Island Pirates' inner workings. However, they have been known to gather wearing the society's trademark pirate hats at venues across the underground and around the world.
