It’s deep into the dark night. You’re sitting in your room, surrounded by nothing but darkness and an artificial light of your television screen. The high-pitched sound of static from the TV and the whirring of a fan are the only things breaking the silence. For the outsider it would seem like a perfectly calm vibe. Silence of the long night. But you are not an outsider, the silence of your room is in perfect juxtaposition to what is happening inside of your head. Your thoughts are racing in a never-ending strive for your attention, your mind is leaping amongst tens of stimuli regarding nfts. You’re a degen, spending nearly every waking moment watching the NFT markets, trading your way through. The bittersweet culture of appraising 2-second attention span and constant jokes about not having a life outside of web3 is rooted deep inside your psyche. You are free, but you have to be on a constant lookout to not fade too far away from real life. The motto to go by is to touch grass. New-age technology magazines stack up in the corners of your room. You love those and you are able to read ten of them a day. After all, the key to be successful here is to know everything at any given time. Despite being worth a lot of money “on paper”, you still live in your parent's house joking about never taking profits and waiting for your bags to go to zero. It’s a dark humor that you all share as you chase the next big thing. Your room is messy and cluttered, empty cans of the Bull energy drink scattered around you. You stare at the TV all night, watching the news about the market and new projects, falling into a spiral of daydreams of having a gen wealth one day. You like it this way. This is your life now - a never-ending cycle of trading and watching, joking and fading. You’re a degen and this is where you belong.
