2021 was about the Flex bayc, punks, doodles, pick your pfp 2021 money was easy - interest rates low - stocks/crypto all-time highs But the world has changed What used to be cool, is now passé Stealth wealth > logos Google Trends shows search results for Loro Piana, up 8x since crypto top in November 2021 ... steal wealth fashion trending higher HBO's Succession highlighted this fashion style to the mainstream ... and it took off Instagram now full of "Old Money" style reels ⬜️🟫⬜️🟫⬜️ & NFT pfps didn't get the memo They continued to be about the flex Even though ... that trend had shifted Subtle is cool ⬜️🟫⬜️🟫⬜️ I had BAYC as pfp from 2 ETH, held for a long time & sold it in late 2022 Moved more subtle to a CryptoPunk as pfp sold that Until I got to a pfp that resonated with me That's not about the flex, perhaps the anti-flex Because subtle is cool ⬜️🟫⬜️🟫⬜️ Art collecting won't go out of style Just like few would know a $3k Loro Piana cardigan Few will know what a Ringers or Fidenza is ... but the ones that know will know & fashion has shifted to the more subtle cues Flex only to others that are in-the-know No reason to flex to everyone ⬜️🟫⬜️🟫⬜️ Azuki is intersting, respect the art But the OG collection didn't like the new collection had similar vibes Rather than embrace the subtle differences, the community demanded the flex And we see the result Flexing is no longer cool ... And prices across NFT market reflecting that in spades
