<p>With their collaboration “Cuneiform,” Presstube and bzor daydreamed about language as a natural secretion of intelligence – “an extrusion of information squirting through the universal aperture of lived experience.” They imagined this intelligence as something alive, something that grows from us rather than something invented by us. To make this piece, the two artists looked towards the masters of various “types” of language for inspiration — from Beethoven’s labored-over manuscripts to Sumerian clay tablets, Cy Twombly’s emotionally charged marks, Wolfram’s automata fever dream, ocellated lizard skin and octopus chromatophores. Each of these languages is an equal embodiment of their own truth, and a codification of what we all share.</p>
