The old cities still exist, but they are home to wastelanders. People mutated by the Mutagenic Plague, the generally have less material resources than the city state capitols, and the people are much more superstitious and prone to mysticism. There are times when the megacities need to retrieve things or trade with the wastelanders, this is when they send Nuclear Samurai out into the field to represent them. This piece is part of a larger exploration of a narrative cyberpunk world that I am creating throughout various platforms on web3. The world of the Nuclear Samurai is a world that has been ravaged by a plague that has led to cities becoming isolationist megalopolis city states. Anything outside the cities is a wasteland full of rampant mutations.
