‘The widowhood Effect’ is a startling phenomenon which demonstrates that older individuals who lose a spouse face a dramatically increased rate of death, especially in the first three months post event.
Various studies have reported a rate of anywhere between 66%-90% increase. It is not uncommon for partners to pass away within a year of each other, figuratively being unable to go on without each other.
