Here, elephants live together with people for many generations. Unlike some places in Thailand where elephants are being used as a tourist attraction, in Surin their Mahouts (aka caretakers) are bound to an elephant for life, and are taking care of them with the support of the local government. I spent some days photographing the Mahouts, their lives, and their relationship with the elephants.
