Djokovic's visa was first cancelled after his arrival on 6 January because he "failed to provide appropriate evidence" to immigration officials to benefit from a vaccine exemption. However, on 10 January his visa was reinstated by a judge who decided that border officials did not correctly follow the procedure. On 14 January, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke exercised his power to revoke the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds as it was in the public interest. The decision means he could be deported and banned from entering Australia for 3 years and as a result, not be able to participate in Australia Open during this time.
