Huraina Remixed is Dom Baker's first ever animated NFT minted. It speaks to her journey through self-discovery, art and crypto. Her cultural heritage and street art are key influences on this piece. She nods to the likes of Basquiat in this piece, important as it's first exhibit will be in the city of New York featured at NFT Aotearoa. Huraina is the original hand painted work on wood and this Remixed piece is her time-lapse rendition via Procreate. You can see the figure's tā moko or body tattoo bleeds out then glows, giving the impression of the figure becoming empowered. "Spill blood for a cause, not just cause" is the proverb behind this piece, symbolising Baker's journey in life of hardships through self discovery. It is a reminder that there is strength that lies in vulnerability. Huraina meaning to 'reveal' or 'show your cards' portrays Baker's exposing of events.
