Digital painting + AI, 2023
This new collection blends photorealism with digital painting to create expressionistic art. The question I bring into my making of art is: “how can I make the machine more human? The AI models I use in this process are older, known for their quirks and idiosyncrasies, prone to generating mistakes and artifacts. Instead of seeking to eliminate these, they are welcomed and embraced as integral parts of the creative process. It is within these perceived 'flaws' that the soul of each piece truly resides, adding a layer of authenticity and emotion. These “mistakes” mixed with digital painting makes it a collaboration between human and machine. It is a search and exploration in how to implement a soul to a work of art that is partly made by machine.
