"If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite." William Blake. Ayahuasquera is the feminine version of the ayahuasquero, a medicine man who leads ceremonies involving sacred plants. The ayahuasquera is able to give drinks of ayahuasca after years of training, often involving sleeping and surviving in the jungle, doing "dieta" of plant spirit in which they would only consume the plant and nothing else. The "medical" component of the ayahuasca plant is the psychedelic content of DMT which leads to visions and hallucination in people consuming them. But according to the traditional ayahuasqueros, there is a spiritual side of the plant too. The ayahuasquera usually has an animistic view of the world and sees everything around us as living and breathing consciousness. We are all part of the giant tapestry of life. And they would work with the plant spirit in mutual respect and in honor. As a side note, I created this card listening to the song "Ayahuasca Ayni" on SoundCloud. Ayni is an ancient Quechua word from Peru that refers to the concept of reciprocity, giving, and receiving. It means "today for you, tomorrow for me” Card: Healing and balance.
