This piece is based on the ancient Egyptian God: Anubis. Anubis is the ancient Egyptian "God of the dead", represented by a figure of a man with the head of a jackal. In this piece we see Phoenyx's rendition of Anubis staring directly at the viewer. Floating around Anubis are representations of souls of humans in the Afterlife. Anubis guards these souls as he undertakes his duty as God of the Dead.
