Time: 8pm.
The Eiffel Tower is no ordinary tower but a piece of art, a masterpiece. When I looked up, I could not help but marvel at the intricacy and beauty of this creation. It captured my imagination and stole my breath away.
The views from the Eiffel Tower are breathtaking. When you are at the observation decks, you can look at the panoramic Parisian cityscape and especially when you view it at night, you will understand why it is called the City of Lights. But my mind was elsewhere. I had a mission. Starting from 8pm while the tower is shining bright in a golden hue, magical sparkles will illuminate the structure for 5 minutes every hour.
2 minutes to 8pm, and I had to get ready. I wanted to capture the moment, as raw as it could be, in an angle that wasn’t commonly seen. In the last hour, I had been looking for a spot and glad to find one at the last minute, somewhere I wouldn’t be distracted by the massive crowd there. I held my camera up for that whole minute while everyone else was ready to take their photos with the tower as the background. Not for me, as the tower deserves the glory, by itself. A rare shot was what I needed. My heart was racing as I waited for the dazzling display to begin.
8pm. And there it was. In silence, I admire the tower’s glittering spire, a magical and unforgettable moment.
As I see the sparkles, the golden hue and the black skies above, I once again kept thinking about the interplay of light and darkness. Through the lights I see hope, beauty, and enlightenment while in the darkness of the sky I see mystery, the unknown, and challenges in my journeys ahead. What a breathtaking contrast, where beauty and meaning arise from the interplay of opposites.
