This change aimed to enhance user experience by providing faster soft confirmations for transactions on wallets and block explorers, addressing community concerns. To ensure a smooth transition, a migration process was implemented, gradually aligning block.number with L2 block production speed, introducing "virtual blocks" during the transition.
