Everything that happens behind the scenes stays behind the scenes. As long as you play a role, as long as you wear a mask, you live. But what happens behind the scenes? Alone with yourself. To whom do you belong? Who hasn't let you go for so long? Who runs your backstage?
This work is inspired by my memories of self-destructive and unrequited love. A love that was an all-consuming and prolonged obsession with one person.
This condition has a name: "Syndrome d'Adele"
I used a lot of detail in the painting to create a sense of chaos and self-destruction, a combination of the beautiful and the terrible.
There is no main character in this painting. I want to allow the viewer to decide for themselves which of the couple is captured and controlled by the other.
