Have you heard of the gem called Nagamanikyam? This powerful magical stone is formed inside the head of a cobra. It is bright yellow during the day and radiates dazzling red hues at night. Once acquired, it will give you all the fortunes and power in the world! The Nagamanikyam does not exist anywhere but in this tale. A cobra's sac or mouth or hood do not contain any precious stone... Gem testing labs around the world know of only two animal-derived stones - pearl and red coral. Here is something that looks similar to Nagamanikyam. It's actually a rain drop on the head of a long nosed vine snake. Capturing macro photographs of snakes is like a dream to me. I found this beautiful long nosed vine snake in a rainy night in my garden. I called my brothers to watch the movements of the snake while I captured it.
