描述
Alexis was inspired by the painting "Sunlight in a Cafeteria" and sought to incorporate characteristics important to the painter Edward Hopper: loneliness, sorrow, and tension, to portray the tragic reality of a senseless war. Alexis evokes the character's position on the international stage as one of isolation. The cafeteria descends into the depths of allegory, while beyond the protection of the window the battle and destruction rage on, accentuating the sense of intense tension.
Alexis imagines a more human side to the character, as if the scenario he has provoked had somehow plunged him into introspection, a sentiment common to Hopper’s characters.
