描述
Paolo picked "Room in New York" for his homage because it’s an excellent example of Hopper’s study of shapes derived from shadows and light. Paolo employs the letterbox effect to allude to the author's love of film and experiments with the recurrence of light and dark and the mise en abyme (infinite copies of a work in itself). He recreates the feeling of alienation so common in Hopper’s work and still extremely relevant today. Paolo’s character recognizes that he lives in a world characterized by alienation and monotony, and as a result, he turns towards the observer in the realization, without recognizing that he is doing it as part of the work itself.
