As a child, he watched a dragon burn his family alive - searing an everlasting curse on his mind to relive their tormented Screams. But there is a path to normalcy. Kill. Every. Last. Dragon. Now, Gravestead hunts them down and drags their vast corpses to the Red Ruins of Ashatomb - an abandoned castle he's converted into his home and shrine. There, he mutilates their bodies in dark, ancient rituals that keep the vengeful spirits of his family at peace until he can sever the curse for good. With few dragons left roaming the lands, Gravestead's spirits start stirring again, restless for more blood to be spilled. Gravestead sets out to kill a fabled Black Dragon: Loor Daan the Destroyer. But this time, Gravestead isn't the only one - a mysterious competitor is determined to kill Loor Daan for himself. As they both close in on their quarry, the torment of Gravestead's ancestors mounts to a boiling point, as does Gravestead's patience with this Ranger’s interference. Questions about his new foe heighten even after his victory, when the Ranger, rather than dueling Gravestead for the corpse, offers initiation into a mysterious guild only known as... the Legion.
