Muhammad Ali is known for his role as a heavyweight boxer, social activist, and philanthropist. Ali had an impressive boxing career with the 56-win record. Being regarded as one of the greatest Athletes of the 20th century, he won the Olympic Gold medal in 1960 and became the heavyweight boxing champion in 1964. Two more championship titles were claimed in 1970 against George Foreman and Joe Frazier. A quote from Ali “I wanted to be a champion who was accessible to everyone.” Muhammad Ali is also known for taking a stand against the Vietnam war, where he refused to take part in military service. Ali devoted much of his life to philanthropy and raised funds for opening the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, while dealing with own battle with Parkinson’s disease. He supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and many other organizations during his time. Ali also traveled to several developing countries to help those in need and was also chosen to be a United Nations Messenger of Peace because of his work. He Earned the presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
