The 45-minute trip from Seattle to Bainbridge Island is an opportunity to settle in and simplify life for a moment. As the ferry departs the terminal and separates from the Seattle skyline, the noise of life gets turned down almost immediately.
Passengers on the ferries find their way to an unoccupied booth, or make their way up to the sun deck to take in the views and breathe in the fresh air of the Puget Sound.
On a rainy Sunday afternoon, I came across someone reading the "Sunday Opinion". Their newspaper fully spread open, hiding their identity. It's these simple scenes that are relatable, yet completely open to imagine your own backstory, that draw my eye as a photographer.
