The Rise
This is the last photo I took before the pandemic caused lockdowns in March 2020. The Rise is a reminder that if we have the resolve, we can get through any hardship.
The moon rises over the York River in Yorktown, Virginia. It's blue hour and the moon has a pinkish color as it rises. On the pier, a few people watch, but there is also a girl. She is completely uninterested in the moon and is looking forlorn in the other direction. The moon is flattened on the horizon due to atmospheric distortion (refraction). It casts a subtle reflection in the water.
