"To be a user of machines is to be of the spirit of this century. Machines
transmute the emptiness into space, that is into something which our minds can grasp as an organized unity." - Combined quote from Lazlo Maholy-Nagy and El Lissitzky
Lazlo Lissitzky is a fictional composite of these two towering figures written as a script to generate modernist/bahuaus/mid-century Swiss modern design. The outputs from the program are curated by sgt_slaughtermelon and named as the titles of fictional events/books/albums etc. that Lazlo Lissitsky would have contributed design work for in his career spanning roughly 1912-1999. Some titles have oblique references, some are just plays on words, and some are simply what they appear to be: dull uses that domesticated the modernist art movement into something as everyday and ordinary as we are used to.
The program becomes more complex with each wave of releases, but retains backwards compatibility for the most part so that previous outputs are still theoretically possible. The flashes of zen that come with simple designs created by chance make what would otherwise be boring into a moment of appreciation for simplicity.
