A personal exploration of a neighbourhood I grew up in - East Vancouver. Save On Meats started its life as a butcher shop in 1957, in a building built in 1891. It shut its doors in 2009. In 2011, a local entrepreneur re-opened Save-On-Meats, this time as a cafe and butcher shop. It has since closed again, and lays empty, though the iconic neon sign still lights up and rotates at night.
This was a long exposure, photographed at night with a Yashica Mat 124 TLR camera using Fujichrome Velvia 100 film.
