The crypto industry has strongly criticized the SEC for its failure to engage in rulemaking or establish clear legal frameworks regarding digital asset compliance in the United States. However, despite the lack of clarity, the SEC has not refrained from taking action. Under its current chair, the SEC has aggressively targeted the industry through rigorous enforcement measures, aiming to establish regulatory policies.
Since Gary took charge of the SEC in 2021, a total of 63 crypto-related enforcement actions have been taken against the industry. Between 2013 and 2020, there were 75 actions filed. The SEC has once again intensified its efforts by filing lawsuits against Binance and Coinbase, the two largest operating exchanges in America, making them the latest targets.
The battle between the crypto industry and the SEC is in full swing. While this may not be favorable news for the current state of crypto, there are arguably no better contenders than Binance and Coinbase to face off against the SEC.
