Bunny | Oleg Mitasov, Boris Redko
1990, fiberboard, oil, nitro paint, acrylic, 70x50 cm.
In the late 80s and early 90s, Boris Redko and Oleg Mitasov created a series of duet works. For over 30 years, these works were stored in the attic of Boris Redko's studio until the Kharkiv public once again turned their attention to the legendary personality of Oleg Mitasov.
Boris Redko recalled how he had met Mitasov as a young artist and drew compositions at his house, despite Mitasov's well-known unsociability. Redko was even awarded the attention of the "legend" and became a co-author, contributing to the series in various ways, such as using streams of paint, secret hieroglyphs, and sign dots, dashes, and lines to create finishing plot moves.
An exhibition was opened at the end of 2021 that showcased the series to the public for the first time, along with memories of Mitasov. The exhibition continued to be displayed on the gallery walls until February 24th 2022 and remains in the closed gallery to this day, because of ongoing War in Ukraine.
