描述
MARILYN MONROE: "I'M COOL IN A POTATO SACK"
Provenance:
From the private collection of David R. Davis II, acquired directly from the original artist, Steve Kaufman, and transferred with a Digital Certificate of Authenticity in the form of a blockchain-secured Non-Fungible Token. Mr. Davis was the best friend of famed artist Steve Kaufman for the last 17 years of his life and was personally chosen by Steve to be among the principal Executor's of his former estate.
Artist:
Steve Alan Kaufman was born in the Bronx, New York, USA and by his early teen years was already participating in art exhibitions at the renowned Whitney Museum when he met Andy Warhol. Quickly becoming a protégé of the famed Pop Artist, Steve worked at Warhol's "The Factory Designs" creating art for notorious theme parties from Studio 54 to the Mud Club, Underground and Magique. Steve’s works soon became more prominent and prevalent - ranging from unique graphics for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” TV show, to featured exhibitions in London and Tokyo, to Fiorucci’s famed storefront window in NYC. Before moving his studio to Los Angeles, California in the early 90’s, Steve’s works began to be acclaimed for more than their pure artistry but also for what would become an integral part of his life’s work, raising awareness of social and charitable causes such as AIDS, homelessness, and to providing a way for ex-gang members to find a new path in life. Steve’s notable portraits of President Bill Clinton, Princess Diana, Pope John Paul II (which still hangs in the Vatican), Mickey Mantle, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, and Joe Frazier – just to name a very few – have been acquired among the collections of celebrities like Spike Lee, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Dee Williams, Eddie Murphy, and famed drummer and co-founder of U2, Larry Mullen and many others.
His arrival in LA also marked the beginning of his close friendship with the great comics illustrator Stan Lee, of Marvel Comics fame, and Steve's beginning of an artistic bridge between Marvel (Spiderman, et al.) and DC (Superman, et al.) Comics’ respective characters. Stan both loved and personally signed many of Steve's "Superhero" creations, encouraging Steve’s founding of a new art style called “Comic Book Pop Art”; which, along with “Portrait Collage” and “Museum Art” are among the more notable of his 15 distinct credited art styles - comparable to the number attributed to another great artist, Pablo Picasso. Steve has also been commissioned for illustrated art-based campaigns including his memorable works by Warner Brothers (depicting its many characters for its retail stores), Coca-Cola (for its anniversary campaign celebrating its iconic curved bottle), and Campbell’s Soup (to commemorate their 100thanniversary and their unique artistic relationship with his mentor, Andy Warhol).
Before his passing in early 2010, the notoriety of Steve’s unique Pop Art stylings became a subject of study and teaching, as well as a staple for world-renowned art museums, exhibitions, and featured events around the globe - too numerous to detail here - and remained synonymous with the many charitable and social causes he faithfully supported.
“I have been blessed to be doing what I’ve always wanted – to CREATE. I have found a freedom that is hard to put into words.” – Steve Kaufman (1960-2010)

This Non-Fungible Token (NFT) is created and published by Non-Fungible Art, Inc. as a unique, blockchain-protected Certificate of Authenticity and Proof of Sale (NFT COA or Digital COA) of the original, physical work of art depicted by the referenced "Digital Image" thereto. By the act of purchasing or otherwise acquiring, or accepting ownership or control of this unique NFT COA from any source (through transfer, gift, prize, reward, or any other means), you also agree to be bound by these stated, and all other applicable terms and conditions including, without limitation, the terms and conditions as stated on the website from which it was first acquired in conjunction with the transfer of possession of the original, physical art piece corresponding to the same digitally referenced work of art.
The “Digital Image” associated by coded reference with an NFT COA depicts, correlates to, and is intended solely to authenticate and verify the sale of a singular, unique work of physical art originated by the renowned artist Steve Kaufman; the copyright for which is owned by David R. Davis, II – used with permission and, except as specified through terms of a specific NFT COA transaction, all other rights are expressly reserved. Certain other elements depicted within the context of the referenced physical artistic work, used by the original artist consistent with then-current applicable laws, may also include designs, looks, styles, colors, likeness, textual descriptions, names, and/or images depicting characters, backgrounds, accounts, and other attributes that are protected Intellectual Property (IP), including registered and unregistered copyrights, of various other parties; potentially including, without limitation, The Disney Company©® (as to all Marvel Comics’ characters and images), or DC Comics/Time Warner and the heirs of Jerry Siegel©® (as to all DC Comics’ characters and images) – to which no separate personal, private or commercial use rights are transferred or to be implied by the process of you acquiring, holding, or controlling this NFT COA, or the physical work(s) of art to which it is referenced, as all such rights are expressly reserved to those respective existing IP rights owner(s). All other aspects associated with the technical NFT COA itself including, without limitation, its published terms and conditions, any other written or technologically expressed descriptions or accounts (such as its embedded computer coding and so-called “smart contract” related thereto) are the copyrighted works of Non-Fungible Art, Inc. (NFA) ©2022 – used with permission and except as specified through the express written terms of a specific NFT COA transaction, all other rights and uses are expressly reserved.
Each NFT COA is a unit of data, which may be part of a series of such data units, created by, or on behalf of, NFA and that resides only on the blockchain in the form of an NFT, and is also specifically associated only with certain limited rights regarding one or more digitally depicted or described original works of authorship owned (or controlled in conjunction with the owner) by NFA [collectively the “Digital Content”]; such that, if you own the NFT COA, only you can access such Digital Content through that NFT [each such NFT, when combined with the right to access that Digital Content through that NFT (subject to these and other applicable terms and conditions) shall be collectively referred to as the “Digital COA”]. It is important to understand, and you hereby acknowledge and agree, that the Digital COA (NFT COA) is separate from the Digital Content referenced by and only accessible through it; when the NFT COA is transferred to you, or by virtue of owning or controlling this NFT COA, you receive the only the specific rights described herein to access, use, and/or transfer such access to another, if you so choose, the Digital Content through the NFT COA functionality; always subject to and in accordance with these and any other applicable terms. The Digital Content itself is neither stored nor embedded in the NFT COA, but rather is only accessible for any authorized use through its computer coding, and is always subject to compliance with these and any other applicable terms.
As the rightful owner of the rights to possess or control the Digital COA via an NFT-based transaction, and subject to your continuing compliance with these and any other applicable terms and conditions, NFA hereby grants to you, to the extent of NFA’s (and/or its partners or licensors) rights described in relation to the Digital Content, and solely for so long as you own the Digital COA NFT, the worldwide, non-exclusive, revocable, conditionally transferable, non-assignable, non-sub-licensable right to access, view, display the Digital Content associated with the NFT as part of the Digital COA, and/or transfer the Digital COA (subject to the conditions hereof) to another person or entity, solely for your, their or its own personal, private, non-commercial use. Except as expressly set forth herein, all rights in the Digital Content are expressly reserved by NFA (and/or its affiliated entities or licensors) and/or the various other third parties (whether disclosed or not) related to any particular image(s) or content depicted by the original artistic work(s); and your ownership possession, or control of the Digital COA NFT does not include any rights to the Digital Content itself, unless expressly provided for in these and other applicable terms and conditions. Without limiting the foregoing, and for the avoidance of doubt, your ownership, possession, or control of the Digital COA NFT does not provide you any ownership rights, commercial use rights to any name, image or likeness depicted, copyright(s) or other intellectual property rights, title, or similar interest in any Digital Content unless specifically granted by such transfer.
You further hereby acknowledge and agree that NFA (and/or its partners, licensors, or affiliates) may receive a royalty from, or in connection with, any current or future transfer for value of the Digital COA NFT (regardless of whether such transfer is made in conjunction with a transfer of the associated original physical artistic work it authenticates, or not) for the initial development of the Digital COA NFT, any rights, licensing and/or development or use of IP and/or the Digital Content associated with the Digital COA NFT, as well as administrative services. The royalty will be embedded and enabled in the NFT-based transaction via a smart contract. By any act of transfer, you also agree and consent that such royalty or fee will be initiated, transferred, and processed through the embedded smart contract, which may not be removed, altered, disabled, or in any way circumvented without the express written consent of NFA.
Any attempt by you to sell, assign, or otherwise transfer this Digital COA NFT to any other person or entity (whether or not done for value, and whether done in conjunction with the transfer of the subject authenticated original art, or not), MUST strictly provide that the following conditions are met; failure to comply with these express terms of transfer could render the Digital COA NFT invalid and result on your personal liability for any damages to the various IP rights-holder(s) for wrongful or unauthorized use, facilitation, misuse or abuse of the rights herein granted to you and/or the reserved rights of any existing IP rights holder(s):
That such transfer be conducted through a reputable, online, blockchain-based, non-fungible token transaction platform that cryptographically verifies that you are the actual owner of the Digital COA NFT being transferred (“Platform”); and, That such transfer comply with (i) the transaction Platform’s applicable terms, and (ii) any applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and rules; and, Prior to, or concurrently with, any such transfer you must (i) provide written notice to the would-be transferee that such transferee’s use of (including any access to) the Digital COA NFT will be conditional upon such transferee agreeing to the these and any other applicable terms and conditions, and (ii) ensure that the transferee is provided with an opportunity to review and agrees to accept these and any other applicable terms and conditions upon the completed transfer.
