In celebration of Haitian Independence day, I present one of my favorite pieces “Pitit fi Ayiti” a collaboration between myself and Haitian Artist Sasa Juste. The Haitian Revolution was a major event in world history, as it was the first and only successful slave revolt in modern times, leading to the establishment of Haiti as the first independent black nation in the world. The Haitian Revolution took place between 1791 and 1804, and it was sparked by the French Revolution, which had inspired people to think about freedom and equality. The Haitian Revolution was led by Toussaint L'Ouverture, who united the enslaved Africans and led them in a successful rebellion against the French colonists and their white allies. The Haitian Revolution had a profound impact on world history and the abolition of slavery, and it remains a significant and inspiring event to this day.
