描述
Hypervigilance is a self-defense mechanism that reacts to every noise, movement, sensation and word in an overwhelming, uncontrollable manner; it sees danger in the most harmless objects and sounds, rendering every waking moment exhausting and startling.
I've been struggling with hypervigilance for a long while now - and this year it's gone rabid. While I'd rather not have to deal with a scared guard dog living in the back of my mind, I've learned to appreciate its efforts to protect me; this year's portrait is a tribute of sorts, albeit not a flattering one.
