S stands for SYSTEM in ‘iSM architects’ Type S starts with an idea to make three horizontal layers which work as an underlying system of the buidling, and then bring nature into the interior spaces just like the alphabet S looks like. Three systems could be a circulation path, narrow garden or an entrance. By placing three different layers on the land, other housing programes such as living room and bedroom can be located anywhere. Revealing the layers through thick walls, and using the walls as an exterior concept, TYPE S is a result of the study of walls, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.
