Optimism is a state of mind, or tendency to have confidence about the successful outcome of something, otherwise known as faith. This is not to be confused with toxic positivity, which ignores problems in a delusional state of false happiness. We should not ignore sadness, because when life sucks, it sucks. However, The Optimist holds the power to weather the storm, with calm assurance knowing the sun will eventually shine again.
This piece is a representation of this idea. Introducing my original character Clover as The Optimist; The details suggest that she’s been through a recent struggle (i.e. bandaids, teary eyes, and an umbrella overflowing with water). However, she endures with her head held high, and a confident pose. Smiling through the chaos while new flowers blossom.
