The theme of this work is the Kabuki play 'Renjishi'.
It tells the story of a young lion undergoing rigorous training from his father.
The father gives the cubs a series of arduous challenges, and each time the cubs rise to the occasion and overcome them.
Finally, the father and son enjoy the fragrance of peony flowers and play actively.
This is expressed in a special dance, the 'kurui', and their synchronized movements give a glimpse of the bond between parent and child.
Their movements and the fluttering of their hair accentuate their beauty and strength.
It symbolizes the deep love between parent and child and their strength to overcome adversity.
The background is inspired by a magnificent waterfall, drawing inspiration from Katsushika Hokusai's "A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces," specifically the Kirifuri Waterfall at Kurokamiyama in Shimotsuke Province.
