EQ 6 was taken in another place that holds a special place in my creative journey, Tokyo, Japan. I’ve had an appreciation for Japanese culture from a very young age. My alias, Tobi Shinobi, is a play on my actual surname, which is Shonibare. It also serves as a nod to the precision that I put into my craft. From the principles of respect, honor, discipline, through to design, fashion, martial arts, anime, art, technology, architecture, video games and much more, I take a great deal of inspiration from and have a healthy appreciation for many aspects of Japanese culture. This shot in particular, speaks to both my dedication to the craft and to my discipline, as a shot like this has to be on point. Photography is something that is easy to pick up and hard to master. Many people try geometry and symmetry, few people stick around to master it.
