This painting, executed on raw canvas, is one of a series of more physical works with bold, forceful brushstrokes. A simple palette plays with sharp contrasts of reds, creating an array of clusters of shapes that contain a spatial quality. Painting on raw canvas creates a complementary staining where color separates from actual paintstrokes, giving off a different tonal value. Though subtle, this staining gives the painting a bit of a 3D aspect that doesn't happen with prepared canvas. The title makes reference to history repeating itself and the frustration that can be caused. A lot of this can be felt in how the paint has been applied to the canvas and the recklessness in the dripping. After many years you learn to control accidents.
