I always wanted to use the "dolly/doily" in an artwork. The dolly/doily is a paper with a cut-out ornamental design that is used to put cake on when it's finished for presentation (in the box or on the party table). It is a round, white paper, and cake "bolo" is very important with Caribbean celebrations of birthdays, marriages and when a child is born. Everyone gets a piece of the "bolo" — it's considered an incomplete celebration if does not include "bolo." Celebration is important in the Caribbean culture, you do it for the community and for everyone to enjoy. It is about togetherness.
