The bedrock by which hidden magic is revealed. If a light imprimatura is used over a dark surface, reflecting light will cause a luminous effect. If a dark imprimatura is used over a light surface, colors will be deep, rich, and complex. Imprimatura or Grisaille are often the first step in the intricate, time consuming, and many-layered paintings made with Velatura, Sfumato, and/or glazing techniques. This piece was created by hand-sketching in digital charcoal, layering and smoothing with Artificial Intelligence (Neural Filters), mixing in Public Domain master painting (still life) for texture, and digitally hand-painting/manipulating for cohesion. Its process and aesthetic are intentionally similar to the artist's earliest work, before they discovered NFTs, and before they began to share their inner world with anyone. The sketch lines are visible. It is the first layer in a journey that mirrors the artist's life.
