Description
The ninth in a series of photo editions minted in 2023. Right now in Tokyo it's possibly the hottest I've ever experienced the city being. And humid. Absolutely brutal and unrelenting. I took this photo while walking home one evening close to midnight, this small corner shop vender still suffering through it. Usually even the hottest of days cool off in the evenings and a constant breeze offers some relief from the swampy heat of the day but no such luck this summer. Additionally, with recently reopened borders the crowds of tourists who have been waiting years to visit are thick, many streets are packed with people like the boxes on shelves of this shop. This scene spoke to me in the moment and now revisiting it a few weeks later it feels even more poignant. I can't wait for the fall.
